Andrew and Michelle Algar have recently made the move from a Bondi Junction terrace to their family-friendly dream home on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

As the owner of furniture and homewares store, Contents International Design, Andrew is no stranger to stunning homewares. It comes as no surprise that the entire property is beautifully furnished.

The couple opted to include Harbour 1976’s Pacific 3 Seat 2 Arm Sofa and accompanying Pacific Ottoman in their newly installed pergola area. The appeal of Harbour 1976’s aesthetic was clear to Andrew from the outset, saying, “The designs are simple but also very practical, comfortable and well made. The pieces mix perfectly with the other, more period-focused pieces we have.”

The original brief for the new home was mid-century with a beach twist and an overall designer feel, the perfect fit for the Pacific Collection – a must-have in contemporary outdoor spaces.

The Pacific 3 Seat 2 Arm Sofa is designed for comfort, functionality and ease of maintenance. Generously proportioned, the sofa frame is constructed from organic A-grade Indonesian teak. The cushion is covered in Sunbrella fabric – easy to look after and weather-friendly, resisting mildew, stains and fading. The Pacific Ottoman is equal parts simple, classy and durable.

When it comes to outdoor entertainment areas, Andrew’s must-haves are clear. First and foremost, quality is key. “Well made pieces that will wear well in all weather are so important. I always believe you get what you pay for with outdoor furniture as it’s exposed to the elements,” Andrew says. “Furthermore, you need to have a bit of an indoor feel outside – if it feels too ‘cold’, the space won’t get used.” Finally, practical seating ensures guests feel as comfortable as possible, with Andrew saying, “There’s nothing worse than having the best seats if they’re all facing one direction – it’s too awkward!”
